Alli and Statistics

Alli, the new OTC diet pill in the market, is gaining popularity and has accumulated an astounding $156 million worth of sales just these last few months. Alli has even exceeded the expectations of GlaxoSmithKline, its manufacturer. Ever since its release June last year, more and more people now trust their weight issues on this OTC pill.

John Clarke, head of Glaxo’s consumer business department, said that this astonishing $150 million figure would also include the store’s actual stock building since the launching of Alli. Only an estimated 60%, which would still cover a whooping $90 million, would be the approximate sale to the consumers.

Statistics have computed that if every sale of Alli would be able cover a month’s supply for every person; then a total of not less than 1 million people have actually purchased this FDA approved OTC diet pill.  The figure was only for the initial weeks; right now, the figures are multiplying. This would only mean that more people are drawn to the wonders of Alli and are entrusting their health on this amazing diet pill.

According to Glaxo, the sales report they initially publicized was more on their earnings last year. With the promotional and advertising campaigns they have set, ever since the FDA approved of the over-the-counter sale of Alli, they were able to shell out over 2.4 billion worth of media mentions and publicity. They are very pleased that all their efforts are already hauling double and triple returns.

As the number of obese and overweight individuals trying out Alli increases, Glaxo is expecting more sales from publicity by word of mouth. Of course, when one person tries Alli and gets satisfied with the results, he or she will surely mention this to his or her family and friends. More satisfied consumers would mean more sales. Glaxo emphasized that their goal is not focused on the sales they can get; it is more of the help they can provide to people with obesity and overweight problems.

Glaxo is also happy to announce the successful visits and feedbacks their website is getting. Hundreds and may even be thousands, visit their website regularly. Their record has, in fact, reached about 4.5 million already.  This has made their site, in terms of OTC pharmaceutical products, the 3rd most visited site.

Although there were viewers of their site who have emailed their disappointments about the minimal effect they are getting from Alli, many still believe in Alli’s potential as a diet pill and have a more positive perspective on the product. Other complaints would be about the steep price and the side effects. The side effects are more accurately categorized as Alli’s “treatment effects”.

The price of Alli, though higher than other prescription pills, is still on a very reasonable and affordable range. Every capsule of Alli is about 60mg. Alli is supposedly taken before every major meal. This means you need to take 3 Alli pills everyday. Thus, the initially package of Alli would be good for 3 months. Therefore, Alli’s three-month supply would be about $180US.

Phentermine, which is a prescription-based diet pill and considered highly effective, would only cost about $93. This makes it almost half of Alli’s price. Ali’s selling factor on this would be the fact that Alli does not need a prescription and can be easily purchased over-the-counter.

Glaxo had a testing period before it launched Alli. There were obese and overweight women who signed up to become Alli’s pre-launch users. Only about 84% continued to take Alli after 10 weeks of using this diet pill. Thus, though Glaxo mentioned that Alli has exceeded their expectations on the initial weeks after Alli’s release in the market, they also emphasized that it was for the period alone. It is quite early to predict about the bolstering of Alli’s sales in the market. The figures in the coming quarters will suffice if Alli will emerge as one of the top sellers in the OTC market for diet pills.

Many speculate that the reason 84% of these individuals who used Alli for a period of 10 weeks; stopped because of the uncomfortable feeling Alli’s side effects are bringing. These side effects are, in fact, not that bad. You just need to know how to cope with these side effects or as experts would call it- “treatment effects”. There are alternative ways to cope with the effects of Alli.

You should initially be informed that Alli alone couldn’t get rid of your excess fats. You need to support Alli with a proper diet and religious exercise. Alli alone will really show minimal effects. This is because Alli is a reduced version of Orlistat. This is also why the FDA approved to have it sold over-the-counter. The dosage is not as high as Xenical.

Alli cannot do all the work for you. Commitment is still you best friend in this aspect. Although there are people who double the dosage of Alli to compensate for being the reduced version of Orlistat. Instead of taking only 1 dosage of Alli before every major meal, two pills are consumed. This would mean that in a day, 6 Alli pills are being taken in. Although there have not been any reports of overdose when you do this, you need to understand that Alli is made as a reduced version for a reason. If you double the consumption, to make it equal to Xenical, it may also lead to experiencing the side effects of Alli twice the usual range. If you triple the dosage, imagine what it can do to your system.  It is the side effects that you should look out for. Taking the dosage thrice may cause you a great deal of pain and even your life. If you really want to take in more than one per major meal, consider consulting a doctor. An expert in this field is the best person you can entrust with your health and with your life.

There are obese and overweight people who, with diet and exercise, have found Alli beneficial to them. As mentioned earlier, you only need to commit yourself to a religious routine. The dosage of Alli is still considered very safe. If you combine it with the right diet and exercise, it will prove to be a healthy and worthwhile lifestyle. Of course, Alli’s effects are different for every individual. If Alli can work for him or her, there are cases where it may not work for you.

Once you have taken Alli for quite some time now, considering the fact that you maintain it with a good diet and exercise; but no signs of its effectiveness are showing, it may be best to either check with an expert and look for another suitable diet pill. You can check with a nutritionist, dietician medical practitioner or a doctor.

For Alli’s side effects like oily spotting and loose bowels. It is advisable that you maintain a low fat diet. Alli is known to work by hindering the absorption of fat in the intestines. Of course, if your diet does not contain fat, Alli is of no use to your system. You need to still have fat in your diet; but keep it to a minimal proportion. These oily spotting may leave stains in your underwear. You can resolve this by using a thicker underwear or use Depends.

There were also reports that Alli can give you a major case of farting sessions. Others even testified that the odor is really nothing close to bearable. One Alli user, mentioned in her feedback message about Alli, that ever since she encountered these farting sessions, she has not seen her pet cat for several days already. You can lessen this by avoiding foods that can produce excessive gasses in your body, like sweet potatoes.

When taking Alli, you need to also be aware of the vitamin deficiencies you may get. It will help if you start taking vitamin supplements while you are under Alli. If you experience severe symptoms of vitamin deficiency like severe acne, blindness, myopia, pale skin, rickets, hypocalcemia, muscular wasting, and even sterility among others; seek immediate medical help and advice.

Proper diet can help you avoid these deficiencies. Eat foods that are rich in beta-carotene like carrots, cheese, milk products and Apricots. You can also eat fish, eggs, dairy products, and oatmeal that is rich in Vitamin D. Brown rice, corn meal and wheat germ is rich in Vitamin E. Brussel sprouts, broccoli, cabbage and soybeans are rich in Vitamin K. Dates, liver and parsley are rich in Iron.

You can do research, ask a nutritionist or come up with your own healthy diet. This will really help you overcome deficiencies and promote a healthy lifestyle. Obesity and overweight issues can really pose a threat to one person’s life. Heart attack and high blood are just some of the risks of having excessive weight. It is fine to seek alternative solutions to free yourself from concerns that would regard your health and well being.

It is fine, but keep in mind that losing weight cannot happen overnight. You cannot take in something today and wish tomorrow you had lost those unwanted pounds. It is a continuous process you have to adjust to. Never resolve to extreme measures you may regret later on. Thus, on no occasion should you take your life for granted.
