My Alli experience and a question that may not be for this forum
I guess someone will delete this if I'm posting in the wrong place-
The goal for three years has been to knock about 20 pounds off and keep it off permanently without resorting to living in a gym the rest of my life.
I bought Alli about the first nanosecond it came out , what ... almost 2 years ago or so? Stayed on it for about 6 months to really be sure what it was or wasn't going to to and basically, it didn't do anything for me. I even did double doses for months to get it up to the Xenical prescrip level (or whatever it is) would be. Nothing
I do exercise a lot, basically eat right, and go way beyond the regimen specified by the Alli guides so that part wasn't a big change for me. My doctor says I don't really need to lose 20 pounds, but ...I want to and I know the weight level that makes me feel that I'm in good shape.
So, Alli didn't work for me at all. Here is what worked for me for about 10 years without fail. Dexatrim. The original stuff. When it was around before it was banned. I was always in shape. 10 years. Dexatrim killed my hunger completely and without fail, every day ...and I only ate amounts that kept me in tip-top shape. It was the best stuff I ever found and while I can appreciate that the FDA banned sale of Phenyl-whatever it was (not phen-phen ..this was the other stuff), I have never been able to find a replacement that worked like the original Dexatrim. I hear that Adipex may be similar but I haven't asked my doctor yet.
My question is, for anyone who knows ....why would I not just take what is known as Proin now? Apparently it is the same ingredient in the old Dexatrim. Is there something else in there? A quick search will bring out all sorts of jokes I'm sure since this stuff is now only sold for dogs via veterinarians (I guess). But as far as I can tell, it's just Dexatrim without the name. And it's not banned because, well ...dogs can get it.
Anyone know anything about this? I can't seem to find legit forums to ask this on, so I figured I'd start here since I have already done the Alli thing.
There are the warnings one can give, but the truth is, the Dexatrim formula worked without fail for me for 10 years and I'm absolutely going to get back to something that kills my appetite rather than the approach Alli takes.
Proin or Adipex or otherwise, if anyone has suggestions of other medications that do this, I'll certainly have more information to ask my doctor about next time I visit him.
