The one diet you don't want to do!

If you are taking alli, the one diet you don't want to do is the Atkins diet! Can you imagine? A deliberately high fat diet? Ugh.

Yes, I also think it would be a bad idea to do anything like the Atkins diet while taking Alli. Actually, I do not think the Atkins diet is too good anyway. What do you think?

The high fat part of it is a real problem for your long term health. The new version isn't so bad, though, as you only do the strict no-carb part for two or three weeks, then start adding carbohydrates back into the diet. I did the original want, and it made me feel sick and week. I remember sitting and staring at a piece of grilled chicken that I had to eat, and wanting to cry.

That sounds like a prescription for disaster. I think any of the faddish diets would be a mistake while taking alli. I'm going back to the one my doctor gave me a long time ago. It's for diabetics, and is supposed to be the best balanced plan available. I think Weight Watchers and other support groups base their plan on this one.

Have you ever done the weight watchers diet? What is it like?

I did it once, with a leader who was everything their leaders aren't supposed be, critical and harsh and totally non-supportive. All foods are given points, which are the same as the diabetic diet units, from what I've read. So, for instance, a medium size apple might be one point, a small baked
potato three. I'm making these up. Then they are divided up into groups. So you get so many points per day for fruit, so many for vegetables, so many for starches, so many for meat. You can mix them up, but at the end of the day you've had a nice, balanced set of meals, even if you did all your fruits at once.
