How are you doing now Kitty? Have you lost the last 10 pounds?

Thanks for asking.

I've lost 4lbs since I last posted. As would be expected I lose very slowly now, only around 3-4lb a month but I still keep going and have not needed to drop my calories below about 1500 a day.

Been on Xenical since end of November and have lost nearly 4 1/2 stone. I hate reading all these reports by journalists who try the pills or Alli and say they suffered gruesome side effects and it was a horrendous experience. If you keep your meals low fat and exercise, they are brilliant. My life and how I feel is so much better now - only trouble is my clothes are dropping off me as each month passes.

Well done on your weightloss and I totally agree with you that the recent publicity has been very unwelcome. I have experienced some quite unpleasant comments on another bulletin board I frequent (not diet related)when I emphasised my view that the fat only comes out if it goes in in the first place! I would not push anyone into taking anything they are uncomfortable with but think a balanced view is needed and I don't think that is happening at the moment.

I have comments that range from the Orlistat does nothing and its all down to diet and exercise to having my efforts riddiculed or diminished as if I've taken the 'easy way out'.

Regards

Kitty

Well don't worry because there are now two of us that think the same. Some people in my office are negative about me taking them, but then they are amazed how much weight I have lost and how good I look. If you handle the tablets in the right way (which at the start can be a bit of trial and error) you will lose weight - both of us are living proof of that. The exercise started after I had lost a few stone (otherwise I might have had a coronary) and has progressed. The exercise has helped and I have so much energy and bounce.

You are always going to get these people who are totally negative. These pills are not a quick fix and as you said if you eat fish and chips and pop a pill, you will suffer the side effects, as 1/3 of the fat in comes out.

Xenical is the same drug as Alli (Orlistat) but is double the dose and only available on prescritption.

Wow Kitty and Kwood, fantastic results for you both, congrats. I am taking Alli 4th day today, still tring to get to grips really. I'm wondering if I need to eat as close to 15g fat per meal to achieve maximum results. This is more than I would normally eat when I'm being "Good". Feel a bit confused at the moment (
